2023 Azalea-Dogwood Festival Pageant

The pageant is a competition that is open to high school juniors who live in the Wiregrass area. Young ladies are judged through an interview process and their on-stage presence. Each season a Queen is crowned and the young ladies in the pageant serve as Trail Belles during the Festival. The Queen and Belles will have an opportunity to have a fun-filled year of meeting new people and making guest appearances while serving as role models for young girls. Besides being the official hostess of the 2023 Trail on March 19, the Queen receives a $2000 scholarship to the school of her choice, Crown, Banner and Pearl Jewelry. In addition, the girls selected as TOP 5 and category winners will also receive a scholarship, $500 to the school of choice.

Did You Know?

The Queen’s $2000 scholarship can be used as dual enrollment during her senior year in high school. The prize package also includes a beautiful crown and banner, pearl jewelry and various gifts.

2024 Registration:

Registration Fee: $80
Registration from January 6th – 17th, please make check for registration fee payable to Azalea-Dogwood Festival.

The deadline to confirm your participation is Wednesday, January 17 at midnight. Simply download the form here, or request one from the guidance counselor at your school. Questions, please call 334-791-8979.

Entry Fee Includes: White Lace Parasol, Azalea-Dogwood Festival T-Shirt, Professional Photo for Publication, and 2 Pageant Tickets.

Attire:

Long Full-Style Ball Gown (any solid color except black), with ADF-provided Parasol. Hoop skirt and gloves are optional.

Qualifications to Enter:

The pageant is open to any High School Junior girl who lives in the Wiregrass area, including Official Home School Students. All contestants must sign an Agreement Form to abide by rules for the pageant and activities promoted and/or attended by the Azalea-Dogwood Festival.

Important Dates

  • January 17 – Deadline to Register by Midnight to azaleadogwoodfestival@gmail.com (Type contestant’s name in the subject heading with the unsigned application).

  • January 21 – Registration Meeting @ 2:30 (Turner Room at Woodall Building) – The signed application will be due. Test Information and Parasols will be given out.

  • January 28 – Information Meeting @ 2:30 (Dothan Opera House) – A parent or guardian must be present to learn about interview, stage attire, and other information.

  • February 4 – Test @ 3:00 (Turner Room at Woodall Building).

  • February 11 – Rehearsal @ 2:30 (Dothan Opera House) – Parasols Due, Please wear your ADF Shirt.

  • February 12 & 16 – Rehearsal @ 4:30 (Dothan Civic Center) – Stage Shoes, Parasol, and Hoop required for both practices. Practice will last approximately 2 hours, snacks will be provided.
